Padel is having a moment, and Hanazono Resort's outdoor padel courts bring the game to Hokkaido — a cooler, quieter side of Niseko that rewards a longer stay in summer.
Beyond the ski slopes, Niseko’s green season brings myriad attractions, including the outdoor padel courts at Hanazono Resort, bringing one of the world’s fastest-growing sports to one of Hokkaido’s cool summers.
Padel arrived at Hanazono in 2025, and it's already one of the resort’s most popular summer draws. Played on an enclosed court with glass and mesh walls, the sport crosses tennis with squash — shorter rallies, unpredictable wall bounces, and a social format that suits groups of all abilities.
When is padel season in Niseko?
Courts are typically bookable from May through late November, with racquet rental and balls available on-site.
Are lessons available?
For anyone new to the sport, the Padel Academy runs structured lessons throughout the green season. Group lessons for adults and families are also available, as are private sessions bookable at any time during operating hours.
What do I need to bring with me?
The courts sit within Hanazono Resort, with Mount Yotei as the backdrop and the clean mountain air of Hokkaido's summer making every session feel like more than just a game. Wear non-slip athletic shoes, comfortable activewear, and bring water — everything else can be sorted at the facility.
Where should I stay?
For groups making a week of it, Tsubasa and Kazahana at Hanaridge chalets are five minutes from the courts in Hanozono. Three to four bedrooms, private indoor-outdoor onsen, and more than enough space to debrief every rally over dinner.
