The Ace Quad Lifts at Niseko Tokyu Grand HIRAFU Ski Resort is being reborn this winter as a state-of-the-art gondola.
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, holds cultural and symbolic significance in Chinese traditions. The festival is rooted in various customs, legends, and beliefs that have been passed down through generations. At Nisade, the Chinese is the last of our major events for the winter season, but one we look forward to all season.
The Vale Niseko and The Maples Niseko are the main two locations where we host our celebrations. The main two events featured in the celebrations are the Shishimai - Lion dance, and Taiko Drumming Performance by Ushio Otaru Taiko Group
Shishimai – Lion Dance
Colorful Lion dances are performed during Chinese New Year parades and celebrations. The lion is believed to bring good luck and drive away evil spirits.
Taiko Drumming Performance by Ushio Otaru Taiko Group
Taiko drumming is a traditional Japanese art form that involves highly choreographed movements and powerful, rhythmic drumming on large drums called taiko. These performances are not only a musical, cultural and spiritual experience but also a perfect way to celebrate another lunar new year come to an end.
The schedule for The Chinese New Year celebrations on February 10, 2024 are as follows:
The Maples Niseko
