With the season drawing closer you may be starting to book your accommodation - and for those looking to get in on some Shoulder Season action - knowing when the Resorts typically close and open is really important.
Lucky for you - Furano Ski Resort has just shared with us it's 2023/2024 snow season opening dates!
Know before you go
Shoulder season can be great for those who wish to avoid the crowds and save big however ski resort opening and closing times vary year-to-year depending on conditions.
Those booking early in the season should be aware that unlike in places like Europe and Australia, where due to marginal snow conditions snow guns allow some Resorts to offer limited snow from the very first day - Japanese resorts do not typically have snowmaking - so these dates should be noted as the earliest opening time subject to the first big powder dump.
Furano Ski Resort
Located close to the main CBD the resort is split into two main areas - the Furano Zone and the Kitanomine Zone. These two areas don't open at the same time.
Furano Zone: Opening 25th November, 2023
Kitanomine Zone: Opening 23rd December, 2023
Fenix Furano and Fenix West are located directly in front of the Kitanomine Zone gondola station. Opening dates and times may be delayed depending on snow conditions.
Both Fenix Furano and Fenix West offer a shuttle service for guests when the Kitanomine Zone is not in operation. We can deliver you to the Furano Zone and pick you up and recommend booking a time in advance with the Hotel Front Desk.

Typically opens late December to 5th May - in 2022 it opened 8th December to 5th May.
While technically closer to Asahikawa we have included this one for it's uniqeness - a volcano in the middle of a national park! Take the scenic Daisetsuzan Kurodake Ropeway before hopping across to do laps on the Kurodake Ski Area Ski Lift - and the *single* 1.2km run.
