Kimihito Kamori, the Owner and Chairman of Kamori Kanko, which owns Rusutsu and awarded the most valued ski industry personality in 2019, is highly regarded due to his significant contribution to the revitalization of the Japanese ski industry.
This exciting new chapter in the resort’s history provides an opportunity for visitors to rediscover Rusutsu—one of Japan’s flagship year-round destinations.

Winter in Rusutsu Resort is a sensational experience! The snow conditions are similar to Niseko, with wide, rolling groomed runs and some of the best tree-skiing in the world. It is easy for everyone—beginners to experts—to navigate their way around the 42km of terrain. Without the crowding seen at other major Hokkaido resorts, there are 8 lift access points guests can maximize their time enjoying the slopes and benefit from fast, covered chairlifts, reducing the exposure to chilly winds. As the ski resort extends over three mountains, there is something for everyone to enjoy—West Mountain, East Mountain, and Mount Isola each have their own character and have been welcoming skiers and snowboarders since 1983.
Rusutsu is again partnered with Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass to encourage more people from abroad to experience the resort. The Vale Rusutsu offers an ideal base from which to enjoy the best the region has to offer, with exciting new accommodation, numerous activities for all the family, and the glamour of Niseko’s famous wine & dine experiences just around the corner. Kamori Kanko is partnered with local resorts Teine, Sahoro and Nakayamatoge and together with Rusutsu join as the ‘K Winter Pass’.
Rusutsu is a family friendly resort and beloved by its many loyal Japanese visitors. There is vast array of entertainment on offer that changes with the seasons: fireworks, a theme park with rollercoasters and water slides, a giant illuminated maze and light shows on the buildings’ exterior, a small farm with friendly animals, and the international ski school in winter. The theme park extends to indoor entertainment too—including an opulent carousel, a talking tree, and numerous eateries and shops throughout.
The Vale Rusutsu introduces fresh and vibrant energy to the resort, with international service standards and luxury accommodation to suit a modern, upscale lifestyle. Designed to encompass the surrounding scenery, each room invites guests to enjoy the morning sunlight and generous views of the east-facing mountain slopes.
Summer delivers the perfect temperatures for an outdoor holiday, averaging about 20 degrees Celsius with low humidity. These are ideal conditions for guests to enjoy playing golf, hiking, rafting, and many other fun and family-friendly activities. By winter, the arrival of cold, dry snow provides near perfect conditions for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the slopes. Temperatures typically remain below zero from December to March, helping to maintain the sublime conditions without being too cold to enjoy a snowy holiday.
Three local convenience stores—Seicomart, Seven Eleven, and Sapporo Drug Store—are within a few minutes of the main resort, and provide plenty of grocery staples for guests who prefer to eat in. The nearby town of Kimobetsu, popular for asparagus, is only ten minutes by car and has local Japanese supermarkets and restaurants.
