Rusutsu Bites: Your Guide to Savory Delights

Below we offer a range of grocery and supermarket options for those visiting Rusutsu this snow season!

From this season Seed Bagel and Coffee Company will be managing the café located at the hotel's base - and selling grocery packs which can be pre-booked through our Guest Services team.

The café will offer freshly brewed espresso coffee, bagels, sandwiches, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and basic grocery items between November 25, 2023, and December 15, 2023. Starting December 15, 2023, you can also indulge in homemade appetizers, light meals, and local craft beer in the evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Operating hours are 8 am to 5 pm from November 25 to December 15, and 8 am to 8 pm from December 15 to March 15. Enjoy complimentary coffee, juice, and a selection of Danishes from 8 am to 10 am.

SATUDORA Rusutsu Store

Drug stores in Japan stand out as the optimal and hassle-free destination for shopping, providing an extensive array of items ranging from medications and cosmetics to grocery items and alcohol. They stock a heap of groceries and medications and are usually larger than the combini sizes. If looking for an assortment of items in Rusutsu, it's worth trying before heading out to a grocery store/supermarket.

If you want a full size supermarket, Kutchan, Rusutsu's nearby large town neighbour, is the best place to go. Located 30km from Rusutsu, both Lucky and Max Valu supermarkets will have you drooling over the wide selection of fresh meats, a wide variety of fish as well as Hokkaido and international whiskies and wines. Lucky and MaxValue are very similar to each other and don't differ too much from what products they offer. If you are driving through Kutchan to get to Rusutsu, it is where you will find almost anything you’ll need before you arrive.

Close to the resort and the hotels are a couple convenience stores. Neither of them vary much from the other in terms of what they offer. Beyond the normal conbini offerings like snacks, quick meals (try the Katsudon!) and alcohol – they usually stock a decent number of grocery items in winter. Large western style bread loaves, fruit, high end wine and cooking ingredients, for example.

Yes - the range isn't going to be as big as a supermarket - but this really is the best option if you need something quick, want to plan breakfast or if you're missing a few items for dinner.
